Our Story
Haverhill Inner City Boxing Club, Inc. was formed as a non-profit corporation in April of 2013 to continue the work of the original Haverhill Boxing Club, a successful boxing program whose history dates back to the late 1980’s.
Our trainers from the Haverhill Boxing Club, decided to form a new club after the Board of Directors determined in 2012 that it was no longer financially possible to continue operating. This resulted in the facility closing, putting approximately 50 kids out in the street with no place to train.
in 2013, Haverhill Inner City Boxing Club, Inc. was formed. It has found these kids a permanent home in Lafayette Square. We have restructured our program to include educational and mentoring programs to go along with our Amateur Boxing program.
Who We Are Today
We are a 501(c)3 non-profit inner city boxing club that welcomes youth from the ages of ten to twenty-two. While our focus is to teach the fundamentals of amateur boxing, we also provide kids with educational support designed around individual needs, such as tutoring, homework classes and mentoring. We want to instill, in our boxers the idea that hard work, determination, generosity and most importantly, education, are not only essential to becoming a successful boxer, but important to becoming a well-rounded, successful adult.
